The Annual Southwest Dharma Celebration, Feb. 10-12, 2012, is an exciting and precious opportunity for people from around the four-state region and throughout the country to gather together in the beautiful Southwest to receive practical, inspiring teachings and meet like-minded friends.
This year, we have the special opportunity to improve our health and
increase our happiness by receiving the blessings of Medicine Buddha. The
empowerment ceremony and the commentary that follows will be accompanied
by guided meditations that will deepen our experience of what we have learned.
Everyone, whether new to Buddhism or an experienced practitioner, is welcome.
Beginners will gain practical methods to solve life's problems, while students of
many years will be further inspired on their spiritual path.
Profits raised by the Southwest Dharma Celebration are dedicated for public benefit to the International Temples Project and used for the development of the KMCs and Temple Projects throughout the world. This project was founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, with the aim to introduce the Buddhist faith and practice of the New Kadampa Tradition publicly.
Medicine Buddha Empowerment
Buddha's Truth Body appears in the form of Medicine Buddha, with a blue colored body, one face and two hands, holding a jeweled bowl and a medicinal plant. His function is to release living beings from outer and inner sickness by bestowing blessings upon them.
May the frightened be released from their fears,
May those in captivity be freed,
May the powerless be endowed with power,
And may people think only of benefiting one another.
